YAY it's raining, it's raining. Yup people, our most awaited monsoon has arrived and so is our next recipe - BEEF CURRY. While beef has now become a controversial topic preceding serious discussions and debates in the desi region, we the foodie gang lets keep the arguments aside and focus on our taste buds and tummies. Yes people, a hot 'n' spicy curry is what everyone desires especially with our monsoon on its perk. Be it Idly or plain Rice or Chappati, this Kerala Style Beef curry suits well with anything and everything. So do not forget to make it in sufficient quantity and then do not worry about upcoming meals, coz you have the best main course.

Why should I try this recipe?

Well well people  with its high protein content, beef will never leave you disappointed regarding your nutrition chart. Moreover you could also substitute beef with either mutton or chicken as per your need and wish. So I guess this should have already convinced you in trying this awesome delicious colorful curry . So common guys lets get started.

 Kerala special beef curry

Preparation Time : 5 minutes

Cooking Time : 20 minutes

Servings : 5 -6 people



1 Kg Beef

1/4 kg finely chopped small onions

2 finely chopped tomatoes

2 finely chopped green chillies

5 teaspoons of chilli powder

5 teaspoons of coriander powder

A pinch of garam masala

3 spoons of ginger garlic paste

4 - 5 cashew nuts

3 clove buds

3-4 cardamom

Cinnamon as required

1/4 spoon sombu (fennel seeds)

1 cup of grated coconut

Salt as required

Coconut oil for tempering and sauting

Curry leaves for tempering

Chopped mint leaves and coriander leaves for flavoring


 A lengthy list isn't it. This gravy contains a lot of spices man, and yes its a bit hard to keep in mind the ingredient list. So double check the list before you start. But guys this curry is worth this long list and effort. PAKKA PROMISE.



Step 1: Take grated coconut , sombu and cashew nuts in a blender jar and grind it by adding some water until you get a finely ground soft paste.

Step 2: In a medium sized pressure cooker take some coconut oil heat it. Once heated, add the finely chopped onion and chillies and saute it.

Step 3: Now add the cloves, cardamom and cinnamon and saute it until you get a strong aroma of the tempered spices.

Step 4: Once the onion becomes translucent add ginger garlic paste and continue the process until it turns into golden color and add curry leaves and temper it.

Step 5: Now add the chopped mint and coriander leaves and finally the cleaned beef pieces and mix it well.

Step 6: Once the mixture gets sauted, add chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt and mix the ingredients well and continue cooking in low flame.

Step 7: Once the mixture becomes dry, add sufficient quantity of water, close the cooker with lid and put on the weight and continue cooking.

Step 8: When you get the first whistle, reduce the flame and continue cooking for some 7 - 10 minutes and then switch off the flame.

Step 9: Once the steam goes out, remove the lid and add the finely ground coconut paste and cook in low flame for another 10 minutes until oil oozes out in the curry thereby giving it a bright red texture for the entire curry. And now your hot 'n spicy Beef curry is ready.
